Join Buddhist teacher George Draffan in an exploration of pleasure, habits, happiness, and freedom. Learn how biochemistry — our brain and body — makes habits difficult to break — and how we can make changes in our lives.
This is a public lecture...
The Wake Up to Your Life group of Columbus invites you to an interactive workshop on karma with George Draffan of Seattle. We will explore the notion of karma and contemplate how it works in our lives. This is also a good way to meet George before...

You're a mover and shaker now Chris!!!! George and I are going over new retreat dates. Just have to find if the center is open then. I'll send out a survey about best dates for most members as soon as I know.
Now that the weather is nice, we could go to the porch outside and keep the voices fairly low. We could also ask newcomers to show up thirty minutes early as George suggested. I'm suggesting that people e-mail before attending their first time. But not everyone will get the notice.
One more thing. I just posted our meeting with George if you want to listen to it again....
One thing I forgot to mention tonight. One of us could facilitate the Probing Presence practice Wednesday and the other could talk with newcomers to the practice for the first thirty minutes. It'd be a good way for newcomers to be oriented to the practice while allowing repeaters to deepen their experience of the practice.
Hey Chris....I wanted to thank you for our long conversation on Wednesday night. It really helped me to reaffirm my practice and also the progress that I've made through it. Even though part of me knows that the teachings are all about moving into the fullness of experience and that might mean moving into pain, theres still often another part of me that just wants pain to go away. When "I" listen to the first part, there's a settling effect. When "I" listen to the second, reactivity and a desire to escape can overpower my efforts toward attention. It was good to hear your perspective on that process. Helps me to stay in the game.
Chris..I'm going to Evansville Indiana today. I plan to be back in time for the meeting but it's a long trip and I may be delayed. I'll call tomorrow to see if eating before the meeting is a possibility. You'll notice it's not yet on the calendar. Jake has the key.....
Ning doesn't always forward everything. I think that calendar responses might not be forwarded.
I love the Smoky mountains. Used to go there a lot for Thanksgiving to visit family. Looking forward to hearing about it.
Definitely bring people on May 3rd since Paul will teach about the body in practice. We'll meet at the Aikido dojo instead of at the center. You'll be getting announcements about it. Be well!
Hey Chris. Great to see you Sunday. I'm looking forward to meeting more people from your group and planning some activities together. I'd like to have a session with Janaki or George if either can talk about the role of a teacher in a couple of weeks. The session with Paul is really going to be good. Think about coming down then with as many people that you can muster.
I set it up so you can add events to the events page. it's easy enough to do but let me know if you need any help. We could also set up a "groups" page too that could be used for your group. Do most of them get online much?
I won't be able to go to a sangha with you tomorrow morning. I plan to attend the Shambhala meeting at 9:00 a.m. to explain our move. Then I'll head back home to tend to the dogs and get ready for my week away. I'll be back next Saturday night so we could attend a temple next Suday if you'd care to join me. I'm anxious to explore the various Theravadan temples in town to see how they practice as a community.
